HOW TELESCOPES WORK
Telescopes are used to make distant objects look closer. Our eye (the pupil) is not able to gather enough light to see many details on faraway objects. It also only projects a small picture into the rear of the eye.
A telescope gives us better vision in two ways. Firstly, more light is gathered by the large end of the telescope from the object you are viewing. This lens gathers the light and makes a brighter image in your eye. Next the smaller lens magnifies the image and then makes a bigger image at the back of your eye so that you can see a larger image with more details.
